While filtering into the Barcelona GP two up in heavy traffic the clutch on my 05 GS started to smoke. I have had no issues since although I have been careful, however it feels a little 'judery' in 1st and 2nd but I'm not sure if its all in my head:rolleyes: I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and did the bike need the clutch replacing.

Cheers

Sounds like heavy use of clutch on the day. Bm's can smoke on heavy clutch use, especially filtering, and doing a tricky cone test :) I reckon it will be fine.

Just an update:rob The clutch has never smoked as badly again, it can be a bit smelly from time to time but I'm now in the habit of knocking it out of gear at lights etc to prevent excess use, I've never had to to this before but I think it's a small price to pay for the overall package and hopefully I will enjoy another 20 odd thousand miles of pleasure;)

Mine has had a bad burning smell when trying to pull away on a hill starts on a mountain, fully laden.....but it coped with it better than I would!!!

Never had any problems since :thumb2

I ended up having to replace the entire clutch assembly on my '05 GS at 36000kms / 3 years old. It was a used machine when I bought it and I reckon the previous owner didn't know how to use a clutch.
My R80/7 had 122 000kms on the clock with the original clutch when I sold it... :)

Watch that hand guard - clutch lever, though.
It can give you a slightly slipping clutch if you're not careful and burned out one in no time flat.
