I,m re-assembling my new clutch, and rebuilt gearbox on my R1100, the manual calls for a moly grease (lithium based grease containing friction reducing molybdenum disulphide) for the pushrod to pressure plate contact area, I have some Opel /GM driveshaft / CV grease which Black, sticky paste like, but the tube carries no specs, Question is does anyone know if this Driveshaft / CV joint grease contains molybdenum disulphide ? if it does I would be happy using it, otherwise I'll order a tube of moly ........

I have always found that regular bearing grease serves well enough for any jobs, and that special greases are not really necessary.

I don't buy a selection of different greases (or threadlock).

why not try the local motor factors, the place down the road from me sell a small tube of the stuff for about 60p, more than enough to do the clutch splines, just ask them for clutch spline grease and I am sure they will give you the right stuff.

Cheers for the replies,:thumb........ Ive got the spline grease (Optimal), its the grease on the pushrod / pressure plate I'm referring to

My pot of black sticky CV joint grease is labelled 'moly lithium CV joint grease' - as far as I know all CV joint grease is moly based. I'd use it in your application.
