clutch query 1200r 28 000 miles

Been noticing some funny issue with my clutch. No slipping under load, but definitely not as spritely to ride in 4th. Feels lazy, almost like I am in rain mode. Laggish but no screaming and static speedo. Also I only have the first 1cm of pull on my clutch lever to either engage or disengage the clutch. I suspect there is an issue somewhere. BMW to be asked tomorrow. It literally is just 1cm of bite at the tip..can the biting point of a clutch be adjusted? Is it a sign of a clutch on the way out? No leaks, no really discernible smell. But a definite careful pull away in first is required. I almost have to slip it to get it away safely without stalling. Any ideas or advice?
 
Doesn’t the 1200 have the clutch at the front of the engine so if it is a new clutch it’ll be easier and cheaper to replace I guess .

Look between the lever and the lever mount where your index finger would be there is sometimes a Knurled plastic nut thing there (not all bikes had it )
I have seen a few where people have been playing with that and then first time they give it a big handful they get clutch slip and forgot that they adjusted it because they have not been riding it for months !

Know exactly what you mean. No I haven’t played with that in a long time. Nike ridden most days as well so I’d feel it if it were further out etc. is the bite point/length any indicator of a clutch on way out?

Go play with it and see if it gets better??

If you still aren;t sure? Book it in to Steptoe or your favourite local BM dealer I am sure he/they will give you an answer ??
 
Yep, got the text today, to investigate it will be £202.80 per hour. They can look to use that against the warranty. Basically I think if they do find something, the first wedge of warranty pays them, the rest if for parts. I get a grand on the bike as I understand it. Steppers does not do WC bikes. So trying to understand the symptoms seeing as there is no slipping, no creep at stand still and no leaks it can't be broken yet. It must be me. I'll ride it till next service and see whats what.

I've just read all that again !! I believe that the whole "clutch problem" idea of yours is a red herring !

I suspect that you have a "power" issue and Naff All to do with the clutch !

Live Data would be your friend in this instance Fuel Pressure? Failed TPS? Lamda Issue

Did you do anything to the bike recently Just prior to these issues setting in ???
 
Not changed a setting or anything. Bike ridden most days. Not touched except for last service 2000 miles ago. Booked in to Vines Guildford for Monday. Investigation there is only £128...It might be nothing, but it is now in my head and definitely feels lighter, less punch in 2nd when gassing it. It used to be more on/off throttle. 4th roll on is like a long flat spot(or rain mode) but that hasn't been used in 6 months!
 
Dropped it off at Vines. Got a brand spanking new R12 loaner. Great design. Needs a screen above 50 mph or you are really hanging. Very cool though at nimble speeds. Nice touches and heritage evident
