Clutch replacement on a K1200 (brick)

so consistent slip when I give it some in 4th or 5th.

Looks like its time for a new clutch, which doesn' look a small job.

any top tips?

Happy to help you with the clutch job. Never done one on a bike before but done plenty on cars (being an ex car mechanic) I also have a k1200 so it would be useful excercise for me in the future.

RS or LT ??

It may actually be the rear crank seal BM have a fetish for those really crap "membrane" seals

Personally I use the old type double lip (oil stays in Engine type seals)

You can have a look see its much the same procedure whether LT or RS (or GT ) just there's a shedload more to come off the LT

Important thing is to Make sure the rads are unhooked from their mounts, the engine mount slackened and that you have all the brake pipes and ABS module secured to the rear frame before you lift it (You don;t have to disconnect it!)

Ah yes LT have the extra bollix of the double ended starter motor and the reverse doofer, not impossible just an extra complication in a an already high IQ lego set

Anyone done clutch on a k1200s. Any special tools needed. Or point me way of best garage. I am in Stirling central Scotland Cheers in advance.

Just a thought but Is it because it is high mileage or has someone maybe put car type oil in the bike instead of the "Wet" clutch type motorcycle oil??

P.S. Your K is not a "Brick" Bricks are the old style ones with the engines on their sides
