Quick Q,

What size is the bleed nipple?

Just been to buy a flare spanner, but turns out there are four combinations - typical

Dont want to buy the wrong one and have to do the back and forth trips lol

mart :)

I use an ordinary ring spanner Probably M8. Works perfectly & space is restricted for anything fancy.

Is there an upgraded slave cylinder available...... to lighten the lever (my left hand is banjaxed from a highside in Mondello Pk)

Sent from a OnePlusX.

8mm it was ...

All bled,

Old fluid

New fluid

Feels softer, but that could just be me, will try it out next week

How often are we supposed to change that then? Never done mine thinking maybe I should.

Once every 2 years or 24K i believe,

The fluid was £6 odd for a litre, and i reckon i used 250ml flushing and filling

Just been out,

made no difference to the feel of the clutch itself, but at least its done

Turn your bars to the right of centre so the clutch master cyl is sloping up. Take off the reservoir cover and slowly pump the clutch lever. If small bubbles escape keep moving it slowly until they have all gone. It can take some time.

I was told by MBW that a new master cylinder will sort it. Obviously, they don't sell seal kits. Not much change from £200.

I found some info on the tinterweb once about another bike seal kit fitted a GS clutch master cylinder.... Not sure if it was KTM.
I was looking then because my clutch "bite" point is very high, I only have to press a little on my lever. I decided to leave it as I just got used to it, although I may need to change my fluid soon as I don't even know I fits ever been done.

Mine is the other way around clutch seems to have too much woolly deadband before it starts to release.
There might still be air in the system but if that's so I can't shift it.

The issue is that brake system seals are not compatible with mineral oil. Who knows how we would find the correct seals.

I don't really know if mineral oil is more aggressive than synthetic oils/fluids. Never heard of a mineral oil being corrosive but brake fluids are.

Brake fluid is not corrosive to metal or rubber but it absorbs moisture which can corrode metal parts. Mineral oil does not absorb moisture so cylinders won't get corroded but it quickly destroys the seal material used in brake systems.
The seals are not compatible.
Citroen used mineral based LHM oil in their powered hydraulic systems (brakes, steering, suspension). I don't know how they avoided the mineral based oil/fluid overheating in the brakes. Maybe that's why the stopped doing it.
