I've been losing pressure occassionly whilst de clutching indicating a hydraulic leak. I suspect the banjo bolt connection between the slave cylinder and bleed line (corroded) but haven;t peeled back the sheath yet. However, I removed the slave cylinder and it was quite 'oily' inside. Is this normal lube or would it indicate hydraulic leak? Should it be dry in there?

If the fluid level is going down it's probably the slave cylinder. The end of the slave cyl piston has a bearing where the push-rod locates, this bearing breaks up or siezes, then the pushrod spins the piston & the slave is shot.

Tek a look at the bearing, but if you're loosing a bit of fluid & the master cyl is not leaking, the slave will prob be needing replacement.

I think they're about £75, fairly easy to fit but if you've already had the slave off you'll know that !

Its a common problem. Rain and washing water gets down the plastic sleeve which is tight onto the banjo. It just lies there and rusts the joint.
Happened to me last year.
Anyone who owns an 1150 should check it.

Thanks. Just been and had another play. With the slave cylinder out but still connected to pipes, put some pressure on by squeezing the clutch and can see a weep coming from behind the sheath on the bleed pipe.
I am guessing that the oil inside the slave is just oil from the clutch???

It's the pipe thats corroded - or the ali washer on the banjo bolt that secures the pipe to the slave cylinder.

Like Den, I've posted this warning and pictures many times.

I had some stainless braided pipes made, they needed a couple of minor adjustments, but they've never got back to me with the finished article. Only have one, which is mine, all mine.
Although BMW do an ADV stainless clutch line, bitlonger than the normal GS line, but fits a normal GS OK. But it's expensive .

What it should look like
