I will be collecting my 1150gs this weekend.
I wanted to check the clutch to see if it is slipping, i'm guessing you can only do this on a test ride.
I've done a search and can't seem to find an answer.

What are the symptoms of a clutch slipping ?

Thanks in advance

Symptoms are lack of drive with an increase in revs when opening the throttle. Easiest way is to ride along at about 25-30mph in top gear and open the throttle quickly. If the clutch slips the bike will rev with little or no increase in speed. If it gradually accelerates then happy days.

Many thanks hops , so as i change up into top gear , simutanously release the clutch leaver and open the throttle quickly ?

In any gear, with the clutch out... accelerate... if the engine speed matches the revs all is well.... if the revs rise and the engine speed does not then it's slipping.

Just to hijack the thread on the same note... My clutch can slip when I give it the beans from the lights, but only then. In gear and clutch engaged if I give it a handful it will lift the wheel, no slip at all... Should I be worried?

I had similar problem a while back, started off like that then lost all drive when warm (coming back again when cool)

After replacing clutch to no avail, turned out to be drive shaft slipping -

Fitted s/h replacement, no problems since

Call me thick if you like but surely the engine speed is the revs. If revs increase and vehicle speed does not, then you have a problem.

Yes did a clutch on an ADV for a mate, it was at the wear limit, but didnt fix the problem, drive shaft had gone :blast
