CoC after 2019 - still?

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a 2020 model BMW S1000XR - and to import it into a European country without a lot of extra costs, it seems you'd need to get a CoC. Now I'm wondering if they still provide CoCs for models that were manufactured after the brexit date? I don't have the bike yet otherwise I would send the VIN to BMW to request it.

You can't, it needs to be from the country the bike and VIN was registered in as you have to provide the VIN. so if you provide the VIN of a UK bike to BMW germany, they're not gonna give you a CoC.

I guess the question is mainly whether the bikes are still made to EU spec and so BMW should still be able to provide the certificate of conformity to the EU market.

Just had a look in the pack I got from Cheltenham when I bought my 2023 1250RS from them and the COC is in there with a slip saying it was imported by BMW UK

Maybe ask the seller if they have it now you know they provide them post Brexit and make it a condition of the sale that it's included along with the other paperwork for the bike?

That makes sense, I just wondered why you wanted to import a bike rather than buying locally (not that it’s any of my business) unless you’ve got your heart set on that particular bike

They're the second owner and are already providing me a pretty insane deal , and they didn't have it so I'll have to request it.

I am buying locally currently, but will be moving away and BMWs are a lot more expensive in mainland Europe than in the UK! but importing without a CoC would be very expensive.

already solved - they e-mailed me a digital CoC back 3 days after providing the VIN.
