Coding CAT plug pins

I have removed my Remus Y piece and exhaust and replaced the standard CAT and pipe on my 2001 1150GS, I have notice the pervious owner has removed the Coding CAT plug, and I have check with BMW and it should have one. My question is I know it's only a link for the pin outs on the connector but which ones for Standard map. Looking on the parts manual it has 30/87 by the description of the part, which could mean it links terminal 30 to 87 on the relay. Can any one confirm this or supply me correct pins to link.

I have just one question - why? Sure, replace the Remus can with the standard one (which is what I did) but ditching the Y-piece for a cat is......an unusual choice.

The Y piece has cracked all round the fixing bracket, needs a fair bit of Stainless welding.

Could some one pin out a standard plug please, have seen a photo of one and it shows pins 2 and 6 (87 to 87a) bridged not 2 and 5 (87 to 86) as thread.

There are only three connections that make any difference unless you have the motronic unit chipped

OK, I've read all (I think) the posts on this link and I understand that it should do no harm and that I should stop being a big girl and just fit the link and try..........But.......

I'm new to the R engine and only having had my GS for a few weeks (most of that spent in the workshop preparing it for a long trip), the exhaust was running F-ing hot, the gasses were enough to have been slowly melting the number plate and the stock muffler was WAYYYYY too hot to touch even a few mins after stopping.

I have no plug fitted and to assist in fitting my DIY panniers/racks I am running just the CAT with a chrome tail pipe. Bike is a 2000 1150 with 70k, I've just replaced a pretty dirty stock air filter so it might run even leaner now!

Check the plugs - that's the best way to tell for sure. Anything else (short of a probe in the exhaust connected to an exhaust gas analyser) is just guesswork.

Yes. Although what you actually mean is can you use a ccp (or link wire) when running a cat. You can - there isn't enough difference between the different maps to over-fuel the bike to the extend that it'll damage the cat.

Yes, there are a few different combinations equivalent to the different coloured ccp's. No-one really knows which does what so you have to experiment to find the one that suits your bike (i.e. makes it run smoothest).

They were OK but a little black, but then the P/O had put too much oil in!

I have a yellow one which makes my bike run much better than the 'Steptoe link' and slightly better than no CCP. Not sure about the pin numbers (maybe 30 and 87?) but here's a picture:

There's also an olive green one and a pink one I think and maybe a tan coloured one as well but I'm not sure which pins they use and some may be for the 1100 and not the 1150 - I've had both and tried various ccps.

I expect someone else will come along with connections for any other colours that apply to the 1150.

I know, but I didn't buy it - the bike came fitted with it - I took it out to try your link and also no ccp/link. Putting it back was as easy as using the wire link. And it looks neater.....

I expect Steptoe found his image in the same place that I found mine - Google search bringing both up in a thread on AdvRider.

It's actually my picture, they are both my pictures, as is the picture of the link. Taken while doing other work on a bike hence the gloves
