The bike starts OK, pulls strongly but suffers from coughing fits at any large throttle openings in excess of 75mph. Easing the throttle back smoothes out the problem but it does stop the beast exceeding 100mph.

I believe that the GS had extra long jets so that it could suck up all the fuel from the float bowl, does anyone know otherwise?

long jets:confused:
sorry - no, i know nothing.
but i had an R80/7 that did exactly that after i adjusted the float height.... and got it wrong:blast
cured by allowing more fuel in to the bowl before cutting off supply.

hope that helps.

It feels like fuel starvation but everything is set-up exactly as the workshop manual and the carb rubbers are new as are all the O rings and gaskets/floats and needles.

Bugger, I wonder what it is?

*clutching at straws....!*

only things i can think of;

partially clogged fuel filters - letting in enough fuel at low speed / but not enough fuel at higher speed? (had that problem myself after water getting in there:mad:)

the vent in the filler cap - not allowing air in?:nenau

...tell ya wot - you fix mine / i'll fix yours :D

Good Luck with it
