Think i'm being paranoid but........

GSA started running a bit 'flat' on the way home last night, tickover was rough as well, suspect coil.

Removed headguards, disconnect secondary coil, running rougher than ever, swap suspect coil to other side, problem moves, sussed it!

Problem is this, I borrowed a coil from a mate at work, from an 09 R1200RT, brought it home & fitted it to mine, runs a treat. Worry is if i ride it to work tomorrow, on the wrong part No coil, will it do any engine damage?

Out of interest, the replacement coil for my GSA is the same part number as a 2008 R1200GS, which incidently has the R1200RT engine....but the coil i fitted today was not the same part No as an 08 GS one...(am i making sense yet!:D).

Now i do know a bit about the subject, my thoughts are its the BMS-K that controls the dwell period, and the heat inside is governed,(mostly), by the plug, so why am i worried? Part Numbers are different for a reason normally:nenau......

Spose i could measure the resistance of the primary and compare it to the good original.....

Any thoughts?
