Had real problems starting my 04 gs this morning would start but not idle at all.
Managed to hold it on the throttle till warm then was fine
I keep it in a garage so did nt think the cold would be an issue

Any ideas

Faulty running

You will doubtless receive plenty of advice - but mine is ....take it to the dealer who will plug it in to the computer and all will be revealed.

A heated garage?

I just took mine out of the garage and tried starting it after 3 weeks off............it lives with the BMW battery charger connected but was a BIG struggle to start - had to hold it on the throttle. After a couple of minutes I let the clutch out and it stalled!........but it is cold here, at night about -20oC and a day time high of only -5oC during the day. Never really experienced the effect that extreme cold can have on oil before.

".....Never really experienced the effect that extreme cold can have on oil before....." You wold have thought that the Germans would have learnt all about that! (I lost two cousins, Lieutenants in the Red Army at Stalingrad.)
