Oi Gazza!

Next time you're bored would you likie to fire up Paintshop and do me a 1200GS in the colour scheme I've always wanted - Messerschmitt 109 desert camo? There are some paint samples here...http://www.mtp-studio.de/jfs/desertblotchescamome109.pdf

Maybe it would come out something like the one on the cover of this book http://m2reviews.cnsi.net/scotts/books/jagdwaffe33.htm

As a technological pigmy I'm assuming this will take you about...oooh...90 seconds? If it really takes 90 minutes I'm sorry I asked!

Hello everybody!

I'm just joining the GS party! I'm eagerly waiting for the delivery of my yellow/grey/black R 1200 GS with ABS, heated grips, alloy wheels, panniers and god knows what not. The whole yahooza is expected in April. Better be! I'm beginning to feel quite restless. My dealer tells me that there might be a slight delay on the panniers though...

:D

Dear G Johnson

I have considered the new 1200GS but I find the Aprilia Caponord a fine and worthy motorcycle.......what do you think.

Mine is at the dealer and awaiting release to me on 17 April. Tomorrow I will pay them the rest of the money.

Blue/grey/grey

Alarm
heated grips
hand protectors
ABS
pannier mounts
cast wheels

Can't wait!!!! :D

Can't wait

I expect my 1200 to be ready for collection on the 29th April from SPC.

Red with alloy wheels - just need a power commander and a race exhaust system - oomps only joking (I am keeping my RC51 for that).

I first used the forum 2 years ago (after buying ADV - now sold in readiness for the 1200).

Ordered one loaded bike...bike is in the store nearly ready to go.

However, a few items are not yet in, such as the lock cyclinders for the Vario bags.

Also, delivery delayed due to recall. Issues regarding leaks from the drivetrain and counterbalancer, fuel gage fix, etc.

Starting to wonder whether I should take delivery or wait until the bugs are worked out...buy a ADV in the meantime?

Thoughts?

If I could afford one would probably get one. Problem is I have not even seen one :D

Not seen one? Probably why you still want one ;)

sure

I also know for a fact that 95.3% of the few current owners and all those that have ordered it, haven't seen it... this is why they got it

It's arrived

That is the 1200 GS, delayed by 7 days, due to a last min recall, it was on the back of the lorry waiting to be taken to the ferry, and BMW called them all back, dont know why, but im not bothered either.................. so now i can get on with the rest of the summer and get some seriouse miles clocked up, roll on sunday.

I ordered mine sight unseen, and was initially somewhat disappointed. Didn't seem as good as my 1150GS. Now after 3 weeks and 1200kms, I know I made the right decision. Took me a little time to adjust to the servo brakes, and found myself over controlling the bike a little until I got used to the lighter weight, but now it's more fun than anything I have ever owned.
My advice to anyone thinking of cancelling their order - DON'T.
Sure there will be teething problems, and yes it is different to the 1150 or ADV, but a little bit of patience will be amply rewarded.
I read a lot of comments are about its "presence". Hey, if I was interested in posing, I'd buy a Harley. I don't particularly care that it doesn't seem as imposing, neither am I, but I have a lot of fun anyway.

I'll hopefully get one in 2005.

If BWM will sell me one without servo brakes.

I've never even ridden an 1100 or 1150 - I know I'd like them, but they're too heavy for off road. The 199kgs of the 1200 is still too heavy but on a par with my 100GS. So I'll give it a go.

Anyone buying a new 1200 want to lend it me for a few hours round the local trails?

Well I did have an off road ride on an Adventure. And yes I did like it.
One week later I'm now the proud owner of a pre servo Adv.

I've made the right choice.

ordered mine, yellow, grey bits, and wire wheels, of course! I sense a lot of green eyed behaviour fromimpoverished 1100/50 owners, but its just better than my current 1150, and that's why I've ordered one, what's the big issue with that folks?

I am going to order one as soon as I have sold my Kawasaki zzr1200. Does anyone know of a posible buyer?.
Spec:-
ZZR1200 silver July 2002, 3000 miles, never seen rain, complete with Scottoiler and Datatool alarm £6000.
