Commuting to work

I will start taking the bike into work. I was hoping not to have to change ie. wear some sort of over trousers.

What do most peeps do - change at work or wear something over work clothing?

Thats what Panniers are for! Suit, shirt, tie, wash gear and shoes in one pannier, laptop in top box and chain, tools spare visor etc in the other one.

If you are just starting to use your bike to commute then make sure your insurers know about it - or find that you are not covered in the event......

Good point but I have full business cover including commuting, I use the bike when I need to get in early or want a change from the car. Knocks around 45minutes from the journey on rush hour mornings.

An old thread, but I see BMW have just taken out a new suit that is designed to go over a work suit or similar, and is priced at £420.

I'm looking for something like that (preferably cheaper) as it's a pain in the a*ss getting changed at work.

an update

I plumbed for the aerostich darien trousers and a dainese goretex jacket. I have been commuting for over a year with this setup and can definately recommend it.

Doesn't getting off the bike with no trousers on cause a bit of a stir?

Change at work - pretty relaxed at work these days so don't have to dress up.

Wear a Rohan fleece under the bike gear and carry a pair of lightweight Craghoppers and a pair of Saloman hiking shoes - so changing in the bogs is no big deal.
