Still waiting to oick up my 2610 from the parcel delivery people 20 miles away ...
In the meantime I have a 4GB Compact Flash card, will this work in the 2610 ? I have a creeping feeling that I have seen somewhere that they have a 2GB limit ?

I've heard that too. Give it a go and see what happens then post and let us know :)

Whilst registering ing the shipped version of Mapsource ( v 4), I got an odd erro message telling me to download the latest version of MapSource v6. Reading the notes regarding what fixed/new in the release it comments that it fixes a problem such that units can now use 4GB, fixing a 2GB limit.
I just stuffed my brand spanking new 4GB card in the 2610, selected every single map in CN v7 and clicked on the "send to device" button. At this exact moment it says it os 73% complete with 10 minutes remaining - will let you know if it has actually worked in the morning.

would it be quicker to use a card writer/reader, than thru the 2610???

4GB worked fine. Any ideas how to transfer using a card reader ? Seesm liek it took a few hours to copy CN v7, once I get CN v9 wil have to go through the same process again I guess.

Just plug your card reader and card into the puter -select mapset required -select send to device and it should show up on the list :thumb

yeah, I thought it would be from recalling stupidly trying to up load mapsets to my good old SP3 rather than via the usb programmer!!!:blast

Have just become proud owner of 2610..one of the last, it seems, from GPSW, and have ordered CF 2gb card and reader/writer from 7dayshop.com, so mapset upload can be done without an overnight delay!!

sadly 7dayshop.com have run out of the 2gb CF cards they had at £11 quidsish:blast all those gsers buying up the last 2610s beat me to it again!

now have to wait for them to restock item:thedummy

never mind tho' will be busy installing power lead and mounting brackets on bike and ebaying the old sp3:thumb2
