Hi folks,
Till now the standard CF card in my Garmin2610 has been great, but am leaving for France/Spain on the 18th of may for 15 days, and would like to
get a larger card.

Questions;
1. What is the recommended size.. 1gig etc? (Ie is there a max, the unit cannot take?)

2. What makes works.. as have heard some dont work? Any known good brands?

I have just updated from Navigator 6 to 7, (only have the update nearly a year..lol..). I am presently thinking of a 1gig card.

Cheers

John

I bought a 2gig CF card a couple of months ago for £60. Probably get one for half the money now :( Just need to make sure you have a PCMCIA or other adapter card as loading via the 2610 takes almost an hour for all of Europe :o

Fits all of CN EU with space for speed camera overlays etc. IIRC the problem is no the map segments size, rather the number of the segments that is a limiting factor. Mr PanEuropean will give you it much more accurately.

Hello John:

Garmin themselves answer a lot of your questions directly at this web page: Garmin Website - FAQ's. You can find the Garmin FAQ's quickly and easily by just typing the main Garmin URL into your browser (www.garmin.com), then clicking on 'FAQs', from the little list of topics that appears on the left side of the main home page.

For questions like yours, it's generally best to get the answer 'straight from the horse's mouth', rather than asking the group - simply because you will get the most complete and accurate information from the manufacturer.

Hi rocks, Just got a sandisk 1gb card for my 2610 for £29 delivered from this lot http://www.picstop.co.uk/. Been in costco today and they are doing them a couple of quid cheaper.

Myself and 4 mates are also going that way on the 18th on the Hull Zeebrugge ferry down towards Andorra. :thumb

I bought a 4Gb card off eBay for £100. I found that my Garmin unit was a bit temperamental with the type of card it likes but have found the i-Pro C/F cards by Integral works fine every time.

4gb is overkill as I could easily get all of Europe with Mapsource v8 on a 2gb disk, but wanted a card that was future proof.......

Bought one..

Cheers Folks and sorry Pan, I will admit to being in a bit of hurry and actually lookingon the garmin site didnt actually occur to me.. dough!..

I have just ordered a Sandisk 2gig card from these folks;
http://www.valuemedia.co.uk/home.htm
On next day, as i want to get it here and tested before I leave on the 18th..

Seems Garmins advise is very limited on their website. With only 3 replies to a FAQ search.

Arrived..

The CF card arrived yesterday. popped it in and seems to work fine..
Nice service. Can recommend to anyone in need of another CF card..
