Complained about 2009 GSA faults today and.....

Here's the thing.

I went to buy a new Tenere. I inspected the quality and found lots of zinc coated stuff and mid steel. In many areas the paint was thin or even see-through. It was a cheap bike to buy but was going to have a lot of quality issues as I ride through winter. I bought the 1200 instead because quality while having issues is generally very good, certainly better than anything Japanese bar Honda.

:green gri Crap - I've got an 09 Tenere ridden it all through winter - ACF50 applied to all brightwork and bolts and it has no corrosion on it whatsoever, no fuelling problems, no warranty issues. The finish is on par with BMW - I had a look at Coopers 2010 GSA adventure recently and the Disc carriers were alreaqdy showing rust discolouration. I am considering buying a new GSA but having seen the early onset of corrosion on a bike a couple of months old am having second thoughts. Has anyone who has bought a new GSA had similar issues?:beerjug:

Poor Quality Paint

In response to one of the problem of poor quality paint on the subframe being worn away, I too experienced this last year on my GSA when only a couple of months old. I got my dealer to put in a warranty claim which was subsequently rejected by BMW.

The dealer however agreed that they didn't believe the paint should have worn through to bare metal after only a couple of months use, so agreed to respray the affected areas of the subframe at their cost. These areas were resprayed in two pack black and have withstood everyday use throughout the winter without any further defect or corrosion evident.

On this evidence I'd say the original paint is shite.

Sounds about right :rob........................... but you could say it 'til youre blue in the face. You'll still get the :spank who think its perfectly acceptable to just put up with really shite build quality and say nothing.

Usually caused by one of the following
a. they are too feart to complain themselves :tears
b. have themselves complained and been fobbed off or brainwashed with the usual crap excuses from manufacturers and/or dealers :drool
c. own old sheds that have feck all warranty anyway
d. find it much easier to slag off others than make a stand against shite build quality :tosser
