Computer light illuminates when ignition is switched off !

A friend of mine bought one of the first F800GS's ( btw I know faff all about them ) and apart from the chain problem and a few other minor niggles , he loves it !

However, when he turns off the ignition.... about two minutes later he notices a very slight amber light glow in background of the dash computer...and it stays on all the time ! 12,000 miles on the clock.

Has anybody else experienced this problem ? ( He will get a diagnosis when he puts it in the BMW dealers but that won't be until about ( I think ) 15,000 miles.

I would take it back now, before any problem that might be lurking gets worse or causes a larger problem. Sounds like a dicky earth to me, and I know didly squat about electrics - just a bunch of coloured spaghetti as far as I am concerned.

Just discovered what an F800GS is..now I will have to google what a 1150GS is !!!

I once had a chance to ride a R1150gs and then realised I was 40 years to young to appreciate it it was a lot different to how I imagined it would be after getting off a twin cam ADV.
