been riding Mrs Gringo's 650 the past few days and am trying to get to grips with the on board computer. the info button toggles the odo and the two trip meters, and when I press the bottom button on the dash the display toggles the much more useful range, ave mpg, rolling mpg, and temperature. how can I get these to toggle from the info button rather than having to stretch to the dash button. I can't seem to get this setup, and the stopwatch is the only alternative on the info button.
so can anyone help? is there a more comprehensive set of instructions than that in the small usermanual?

cheers in advance for any help.

Riders manual...

Hello. I copy/paste the instructions from the manual for you.

(Button 1 and 2 are the ones to the left of the instrument cluster.)

Press button 1 and button 2
at the same time and hold
them down until the reading
changes.
FLASH (redline warning) appears,
along with ON or OFF.
Press button 2.
LAP (Lap-Timer) appears,
along with ON or OFF.
Repeatedly press button 1 until
the reading shows the mode
you want.
ON: Stopwatch operated by
means of the INFO button on
the handlebar fitting.
OFF: Stopwatch operated by
means of button 2 in the instrument
cluster.
To confirm the setting, press
button 1 and button 2 at
the same time and hold
them down until the reading
changes.
The settings are accepted and
the display returns to its most
recent reading.
The most recent setting is retained
if you do not confirm the
new settings.

My info button on the left will toggle thru mpg/miles left in tank etc when the top black button is selected. I'll have a look when I get home, not got it at work today.

Maybe I misunderstand something...
Are you saying that you can have the Trip1 and Trip2 screen while pressing the Info button on the handle bar ?
If yes, can you explain how to do that cause as from the start mine never did that.

we certainly have no need for the stopwatch so would like to "hide" it somehow.
I'll try that later Fast2Martin, thanks. can you confirm - does pressing button 1 bring up the range mpg etc to then be accessed from the info button?

ide508, yes, on our bike pressing the info button on the bar toggles the odo, then the two trip meters. I think the other readouts are more useful - she prefers the temp gauge, I prefer the running mpg, but choosing these from the dash rather than the bar is less easy on the move.

Well it must be that my bike is too old :-) May 2008
Info button gives me the average speed - average mpg - actual consumption (when rolling) - miles left - temp...

The top button on the cpu screen gives me the stopwatch and the lower one trip 1 and trip 2, that's suits me well :augie

Best of luck

Sorry I've just realised that it's a 650... mine is a 800. Though I see no reason why the computer should differ !

you are able to swap the functions over so that your stopwatch is on the info button, this is done so that people are able to time themselves accurately when on a track. that said it would be able to swap back as well.
i knew how to do it at one time but now not too sure

got it!

followed Martin's procedure above and turned both the flash and lap off then held both buttons to set. and lo and behold everything has swapped round the way I want it! yippee!
:clap

cheers folks :beerjug:

Good it worked out as the manual stated. You should be able to download the Riders Manual from your bmw-motorrad website. Nice to have. I tried to give you a link from my Norwegian www.bmw-motorrad.no site, but it was a javascript -link or something. Was only able to click it...
