Well for what it's worth I think you should fit the Akras. I have a full titanium Akra system ready to fit on my Megamoto. I really do think loud pipes save lives.

...I'm just thinking that this year, I may get better 'value' by doing another trip somewhere.

There's not that much, really. Most of it is functional and most of it's hidden, and it means that getting it done now means I can fine tune the packing and stuff.

Some of it's pure bling - like the rim tape and gimp suit and the Touratech rear brake cylinder cover - but I don't intend sticking anymore crud on it!

These orange bikes are really tempting and I know they ride and handle well. Only problem for me is that I'm a giant

Just comparing sizes of the 2 bikes - MM/SM

Wheelbase 1615/1510mm
Seat Height 889/875mm

So the SM is nearly as high but shorter. Sounds like a wheelie machine

Apparently, they are good for wheelies, but I'm not really into that kind of thing - too concerned about skin-tarmac interface issues I do slightly envy people that can, though...

I'm not sure it would to be totally comfortable getting to and around the Alps, and luggage options could be interesting!

Has anyone tried something as extreme as this on a long distance tour? I did take a Ninja 600 to the south of France, Andorra, and Spain and back a few years ago, and that wasn't that bad comfort-wise...

...mind you, I may still add it to the Joybringer Garage, especially as my other half, the lovely Mrs Joybringer, rides.

I'm not sure it would to be totally comfortable getting to and around the Alps, and luggage options could be interesting!

It's certainly a stunning bike and I'm sure you'd have fun with it in the Alps.

BUT. Not as much fun as you would on the SM purely because of the riding position. Going up would be fine but going down would put a hell of a lot of pressure on your wrists. Also some of the hairpins are tighter than Madonna was when she was tight The extra leverage of the SM's upright riding position would really come into its own.

Having owned both RC8 and MV 1000,I can safely say that they would be a nightmare on alpine hairpins,especially the MV !!!

I think I'll be sticking to me SM - the RC8 would be nice, but would definitely play havoc on my wrists.

That MV is luvverly, and that's probably the best looking Blade I've seen.
