Help?????

Just bought a Motorcycle mount and leads (Part No: 010-10610-00) from Garmin for my Quest. Do i need a voltage regulator or can i just hard wire to the battery? No mention of regulator in the instructions but have noticed mentions in some of the threads.

Dont want to wire it up and here the fizzle of melting Quest

Nope it's all there, voltage dropper in the cradle and in-line fuse in the +ve lead. Just wire it up and go. Consider putting it on a switched power source - the brass power pins don't like contact with water and water does have a tendency to be caught and collected in the cradle when the Quest isn't in use. Simple solution turn the cradle forward when not in use to protect pins from corrosion. Easily done if you have bought either of the RAM mounting kits (RAM-B-149ZA-Q1 and RAM-B-149Z-Q1)
