I downloaded the uk maps to my iPhone a few weeks ago and they seemed to disappear the other day. I had to download them again. Seems odd !
Has anyone experienced this before or am I missing something?

When I installed the latest app update it warned me that I’d need to re download the maps. Big update apparently.

My phone is set to auto-update apps and I never got the warning. A bit annoying as I was in France at the time, and it required vast downloads of data on slow or expensive connections to restore the maps. Luckily I don't use the connected app for navigation, just speed limits.

What do you use for navigation, if not BMW‘s Connected app?

I'm on a replacement (gen 2) Nav 6 for navigation, just changed to MRA for planning. I'd possibly switch to the connected app if it could skip waypoints. Or to MRA Nav if it worked with the whizz wheel. The whizz wheel is table stakes for me, I'd really miss it.

Doesn’t your Nav VI show the speed limits by default? From memory, it always shows the current speed of the vehicle, which changes colour if the speed limit for that stretch of road is exceeded.

Yes it does show speed limits, I just prefer the display on the TFT as it's easier to pick out. The loss was a mild annoyance, but it would have been more painful had I been using the maps. The point of my post was to alert people that this could happen while travelling, and it's a pain - it's something that wouldn't happen on the Nav 6, for example. I can live without map updates while on holiday; but losing maps themselves halfway round would be inconvenient.

That’s the fault with some app’s, they sometimes don’t update too well and / or don’t function properly following an Apple update. My Caxton card app went haywire, following (I assume) an update of some sort. The only way I could find to mend it, was to delete the app completely and start again.
