Connecting accessories to the battery

Has anyone connected heated clothing directly to the battery on their WC?

The accessory socket has a 5A max load and my heated jacket needs more than that. The connecting cable is fused. Just checking if there's a reason not to do it.

Yup have directly wired my Keis jacket, take right hand cover off to access both + & - as theres a convenient jump start terminal and one battrey terminal. :thumb

Why would you think there was a reason to not connect directly to the battery?

The bike seems to like things certain ways. There's a warning in the manual somewhere (if I remember correctly) about the way you charge the battery, and I was also warned by the dealer about jump starting it - he told me a story about it frying the electronics.

Oh, and while I'm here, anyone had their front brake master cylinder replaced? My bike went in for its first service last week and it needed the part replacing - but BMW are all out (here and in Germany), and they won't have any more until the middle of December. Sounds like there's quite a demand for them.
 
Just fitted the Powerlet Temin-8 to mine. Basically two heavy duty steel busbars that are protected by a flexible sleeve. It has a waterproof 20amp fuse. It was a tight fit but all working fine. Direct to the battery so no canbus issues. At £25.39 delivered from adventure spec I thought it was a bit pricey but when I looked at buying the bits and having a go myself it did not really add up.
 
Use a fused busbar box then you only have to disconnect the battery once and all accessory fuses are neat and tidy.
