Having just swapped from a K1600 to a 2015 GSA I need to fit things such as the power lead for my heated jacket and a usb lead. On the K I simply connected these directly to the battery (under the seat) but the battery on the GSA is much less accessible. Has anyone done a similar connecting job and how did they manage it. I'm thinking that I may have to ask the dealer to do it when the next service is being carried out.

The gs is so easy, take off the panel above the rear lever and there you will find both earth and +ve leads. took me about 5 mins to install a optimate lead.

Although it can seem a bit daunting, I found that connecting leads to the battery on the GSA (LC) not so bad in reality. Grab yourself the right size torx and take off the black panel on the right hand side of the bike, (basically where your leg goes). Once off, you'll be able to see the battery, held in place with a piece of plastic and a rubber band. On my bike there is a hefty cable across the front of it too. Unclip the thick cable from the plastic and move it down out of the way, then unclip the rubber band. Now you need to remove the plastic holder, it slips out from under the battery and then unclips from either side at the top.....its a bit of a PITA, but it will come out.

Once done, lift the battery up and out and voila access. I route the cables up through the battery box under the main seat. Re-installation is reverse of above.

Give it a go, it is surprisingly little effort.

There's no need to remove the battery - there is a dedicated 'remote' positive terminal which can be used as pictured in the link above.

All you need to do is remove the plastic side cover and both terminals are easily accessible.

Well, would you look at that, I never knew that......could have saved myself some time and effort! Nice to know, cheers for the heads-up.....feel a bit of an idiot now for taking the battery out completely when fitting my various connections.

Cheers.

I did the same as you.....but.... you still need to disconnect the negative lead on the battery to prevent possibly shorting the positive to earth when undoing the bolt so it's no big deal which option you choose IMO
