connecting an optimate

Is it ok to plug an optimate into the aux power socket on the engine ? Subject to getting the correct plug?? i understand you can get them at Maplins... anybody know what they are called?

another option is to get an optimate battery adapter and leave under the seat... but if i can just plug in that would be great!

It depends which GS you have. If you have a Can bus one (eg, 1200GS, 1200TR, HP2 etc...) then you can't just use the accessory socket and you will have to wire in a Optimate connector straight to your battery. If you have an 850/1100/1150 then you can just connect it to the auxillary socket

No problem if you have an 1100 or 1150 but I believe that there where some issues with the 1200's due to the Canbus system? There are threads on the forum about this if you have a search.

I use the aux socket to 'float' my 1150 with an optimate charger whenever it's sat in the garage.
