considering a GS

Hi, this is my first post so plse be gentle. Im about to sell my street triple as I fancy doing a bit of touring and Im torn a GS and GSA. I certainly wont be doing any off road just curious what you guys thought? I'll hopefully taking Mrs SQ pillion too when I feel brave enough.

Welcome to the site, go to your dealer and have a test ride on both, just take your licence and away you go they are always keen to let you have a go
with no obligation to buy. The adventure is a bit heavyer than the std 1200 GS and both quite a bit lighter than the 1150, (just go and wash my mouth out!) have a good go on both and enjoy yourself!.

Rode both back to back at the weekend and IMO not a huge difference between them.

The GS is a great handling bike that does it all, the GSA susrprisingly felt little bigger or heavier, but the handling seemed to not quite have the same sporty feel, but it seemed a shade more comfy over bumps - and has a huge range.

For my money I would always go for a stock GS as I prefer the more taught feel and slightly better feedback, but if you want to cruise in utmost comfort with minimal fuel stops the GSA is a damn fine machine - and has larger luggage for two-up touring.

If it's mostly touring and often two up, I'd say GSA . Huge tank, huge panniers, better screen for motorways / all day comfort ....

But Dave is right, the one thing that BM dealers are particularly good at is customer care. They will bend over backwards to see you ride both bikes back to back. (with yer missus ... ).

Cheers chaps Im going to the dealer in Manchester tomorrow. Thinking about it a standard GS will probably suffice but the GSA is so dam much machine!!!! The car is going too so It'll be used for commuting aswell. It's the bike I've always wanted so I'm so excited. SQ

I have owned both & for my needs the GSA is the better bike, if you fancy doing some longer distances the GSA comes into its element with its extra range & better wind protection also i find it feels more planted on the motorway, However it is taller in the saddle.

Get the GSA they are fantastic.

Cheers guys I did love the massive look of the GSA today. Whats the reliability like on the older models 07,08,09 years? Its just on Mcn reviews arent very positive.

mines on a 57 plate ive only covered about 7 thousand on it and its total of 12 thou . and ive had a headlight bulb blow in germany shock horror

Just go for it You can always put a std GS seat on a GSA to make it a bit lower

Not being funny but try and strike a deal to get the existing warranty extended for as long as you can for the sale price.
Peace of mind for you and the chances are the dealer won't mind as it gets them a sale in the quiet season, for little risk. (they are reliable after all)

I think that sounds like a good deal to me, my old GSA was on a 10 plate with dynamic pack & premium packs 10500 miles, panniers etc. I got 11k trade in August this year & it went to williams its the one in my profile pic could it even be the same bike. The bike was in excellent condition no problems at all.
