Contact spring?

As per the title really,

Looking in the exploded parts list for the Valve assy., is the aforementioned contact spring.

It basically sits between each rocker assembly.

Looks more like a glorified shim than anything else lol.

What does it contact, ( apart from the plug gasket, (which it destroys lol))

I cant see what contact is is designed to make, or prevent??

It is probably an anti rattle shim.

As i had the rocker cover off again today, i had a look inside,

There is a contact patch where the spring touches,

The only thing i can think of, is to earth the head out,

As its mounted on 4 rubber bushes & and oil seal.

Then again so is the oil filter, and that's not earthed

Anyway it;s all back together now so nowt to worry about really

Nothing of the sort,

Outside my budget at the time,

Although with hindsight, something more sorted, albeit at a higher price, may have been a

smarter option

18 months ago my 08 cost me about £1000 for rebuilt FD, FD pivot bearings, drive UJ replaced, swing arm bearings, steering bearing and no end of powder coating (both chassis frames and much other stuff?
Cheap to run Oh yes!
