Conti Trail Attacks.................fitted

Roy at RGM fitted a spanking new pair of continental trail attacks this morning to my 1150gsa. Great service (as usual). Replacing my dunlop trail max which were sha***ed.

First impressions are very smooth and great grip. Early days but i think we are going to get along just fine.

I rode the bike to Roys and he removed the wheels and fitted the new contis for £236 inc vat. Im not mechanically minded so the extra £36 for removing and refitting of wheels was fine with me and at least I know everything is torqued up correctly too.

Took about an hour start to finish

Be interested to see what you think of them in a few miles and how they're wearing, or not.

The price seems to be a bit expensive to me, not BM dealer territory, but IIRC the old Tourances were about £175 fitted by Steve in Wheelock earlier this year. Any idea on how much Roy would charge for them?

I did surf around for best prices and the cheapest which was supply only inc postage was £160 and then i would have had to remove the wheels and take them to Roy. Im happy as I know everything has been done properly.

if you lookaround, you can get em for 150/160 ish, local shop fits em for a tenner to loose wheels,try round and black on ebay

Like i said I found a supplier that could let me have them for £160 inc shipping, if I was mechanically minded ......and im not then I would remove the wheels and get them fitted for around the £15 mark to loose wheels so I could have saved myself a few quid...............however..........The service i get from Roy is second to none, okay so it cost me a few quid more but he is a BMW qualified technician and knows these bikes inside out. All bolts are greased up and torqued to the factory spec and at the same he checked the pads etc to make sure everything was ok..........at the end of the day you get what you pay for...........

thats true, however , i wouldnt trust any dealer with my bike, (i know too many in the trade, )so its a tenner an torque em up myself

Roy isnt a dealer he is independent and many of the tossers on here use him and as I do trust him with our bikes........my bike doesnt get any where near a dealer either

note "not mechanically minded" this would tend to suggest why i pay for my wheels to be removed, unlike some of you who are rather adept at tinkering and general maintenance, I on the other hand havent a clue and if I did try it would almost certainly end up costing me much more putting right what I had broken

I got Trail Attacks fitted last year, at Dave Greenbanks down on Appleby Road, opposite the Auction Mart. Can't remember the exact price, but I got a new rear fitted yesterday (the first one got covered/soaked in gearbox oil in France after 715 miles ). That cost me £95.00. I took the wheel down to him on this occasion, and no charge for fitting. Usually ride the bike down and take the wheels off there (the lads give a hand), he charges about a fiver for fitting, valves and balancing then.

I know Roy is a good sort from dealings I've had with him recently, but Appleby Road is just a bit closer...

As for what the tyres are like, I can't really say yet. I had the front on about a month before I got the rear, but only did a couple of runs to the bridge over the back road, and riding to work at Asda. I got the rear fitted on the Thursday afternoon, and set off for Paris that night. As I say, managed 715 miles, mostly Motorway, before the gearbox blew; been off the road since...

All bolts are greased up and torqued to the factory spec ..at the end of the day you get what you pay for...........

FFS!!! im going to close this thread "greased up bolts" was not meant literally................the pinch bolts at the front were very very tight to remove and a little seized, those were the bolts that needed a little copper slip.

I forgot just how many morons are on this site................
