ahem, while "making progress" along the wiltshire A roads today my contour decided to detach itself from the side of my panniers and bounce merrily down the road. this was only its 2nd outing, it being a xmas pressie and all that.
body is dented and scrapped, plastic cover for buttons mashed, and lens collar taken a beating, impact resulted in the memory card being flung out (shame was hoping to replay the event).
and the thing still works fine! lens and lasers etc and audio all ok.
this is one tough cookie

point to note, so the contour has a anchor point to anchor the self adhesive mount base to the bike via nylon thread, there is no additional anchor point for the actual camera itself.
something i will rectify asap

:)

wish i had the card tho, as i shot some great footage of me catching and overtaking a boxster on the marlborough downs....

also, the universal mount to adapt it to standard tripod thread is £16 from amazon.
but the waterproof case which also has a tripod thread is only £26 from amazon

no brainer getting the waterproof case IMHO

:)

so i contacted contour USA and the nice man is going to see if he can raid the parts bin to send me some replacement parts. its these customer service acts that really make you believe in a company. their offical statement is they dont do repairs, but there's a person behind it all really.
