Converting VHS tapes to digital

What's the best (read cheapest and easiest!) way to do this these days? Mac or PC, though preferably mac if possible (laptop's easier to stick next to the video recorder!) I found some really silly videos from when I was at college which I'd like to stick online for a laugh.

I used to have it sorted with a tv card on windows XP, but that all stopped when I got vista

Ditch the Vista and revert back to good old XP.

Yeah yeah

Anyway I've sorted it. Turns out that a pinnacle PCTV usb2 works in vista, just not the software. Managed to get it all sorted for free with open video capture. Quality's not 100% but it's old 8mm camcorder stuff anyway so not all that great.

thank allah for vista, it'll keep computer magazines and all their employees gainfully employed for a few years..... until the next bag of sh1t comes along.

I bought a combined video/DVD recorder and I do it with that. Doesn't even need a computer!

You asked about converting VHS to Digital.

If you want a .dv file from VHS the best route is a Canopus ADVC55 Video Converter for about £100.

If you just want to copy VHS to DVD use a Combo VHS/DVD Player/Recorder.

Johnny L how much VHS is there to convert? as imight for the cost of a few drinks do it for you.

however if there's tons I keep the option open of saying no.
