So new bike has the above, but not really sure what benefits it has over the standard ABS. Say I enter a corner a little hot and brake its stands the bike up will the cornering ABS help in that situation and how?

Any info appreciated

Thanks

Uses an electronic gyro to determine lean angle. A computer then limits the actual maximum braking force in proportion to that lean angle. Tested extensively (by manufacturer riders) and imho worth having . It can't change the laws of physics though - so rider skill/knowledge/judgement still the key to riding.

enjoy your new bike wonkey- have fun!

I think cornering ABS is much less likely to high/low side you than standard ABS if you jam it on mid-lean.

So which bikes in so called "adventure" class have this feature?
I know KTMs 1190 Adv and 1290 SA have this.

BMW call it ABS PRO and it's on some of the higher spec models. It's on my l/c GSA but not the basic model. I forget what mine is called but it's the middle one. JJH

It's worth practising braking into a corner on the GS. My experience is that you can brake quite hard up to the apex if you need to. Because the Telelever largely separates braking and suspension forces, the GS doesn't stand up when you brake in a corner.

That's interesting as only done test rides so have to experiment when I get mine but will feel strange hanging on to the brake later than I am used to. Suppose I need to go quicker into the corner in that case (well slightly) maybe

It's not in the manual, so no!:P

Indeed. I've tried it, and it works! All in the name of research, and to help the folk on here, mind!:rob:D

Bet it was 'butt twitching' when you tried it for the first time though Nutty or was it simple the result of an over exuberant moment and you had no choice. I love all the rider aids as makes me feel like I have a little guardian angel looking after me for when I screw up

Not at all. I deliberately tried it when I test rode the XR last year before buying mine. It was the dealers bike, so I thought I'd make sure it works!:D

Slightly off topic but does it have same (cornering sensing) for traction control ? If so are you going to try it out !?
I tried std traction control (leaning over) at speed on my 2013 on a dry road. I won't be trying it again ! Its not a driving aid and very abrupt, on off unless it was me doing it too!
I'll stick to using my right hand.
Got traction control on a Honda Crossrunner - pulled out on a dual carriage way in front of a car needing to get some acceleration, as I went over the white line it sensed wheel spin & shut throttle down for which seemed like a second so just chugged out in front of the car - line so short didn't need traction control help so all kind of dangerous/ unpredictable - I'll be turning it down on the Honda but think it needs selecting every time you start.

Which power mode did you have your bike in...I think that the cut is much smoother in Dynamic!
