The silver/powder finish on my 1200 GSA rear wheel is puffing up around the bolts and spoke bolts after 1 year. I tend to wash and give the bike the scottoiler F365 treatment and there are no other signs of corrosion on the bike (actually minor puffing at the points where the spokes enter the front and back wheel). I wonder whether this is a common problem. I took it to SLM and they took some photos to send to BMW, I treat my bike a LOT better than my year old small BMW car which has no signs of corrosion so can’t believe it can be put down to neglect? I haven’t seen much about this on the Forum….I remember the nightmare I had on my earlier 1150GS with the front fork holders losing all the silver!

I have the same problem on the rear wheel of my GSA.
First noticed when the bike was six months old - I do not commute on it and always wash it after riding in winter conditions if there is salt about.

Reported it to my dealer who said that BMW now insist on inspecting any corrosion claims - they have notified BMW who have yet to get in contact with me after 4Weeks!

I shsll phone them agasin on Monday.

hi, I had that problem on my jan 07 gsa , wheel replaced in jan this year by barnstormers , no problem. Bike had about 24 thou on it then. Interesting that I had no issues with the front .

There are loads of threads about corrosion and use the search button if you want to get depressed:augie

Had the same problem on a 2007 GSA, symptoms as you describe. Replaced there and then by the dealer.
