I have a 2013 GSA and whilst I was cleaning it I noticed that the front hub was showing signs of corrosion where the brake disc is fixed to it !
is it covered by warranty ?

Hi,
The hub is a powder coated alloy. The brake rotor is stainless steel. Is the corrosion on the disc rotor ? If it is the rotor,the corrosion might just be some contamination & not actual rust. This can be removed using some scotchbrite & a bit of WD40.
Apologies if I have misunderstood your post. If in doubt, ask your dealer.

I had similar on my rear wheel, '13 GSA, powder coating bubbling on the rear wheel hub - replaced under warranty a couple of weeks ago.

Poor quality powder coat or paint (no primer or poor surface prep) will do this. Alternatively, corrosion tracks between metal and coating where the coating has been machined away to seat the brake disc rotor. The only solution there is a good quality anti seize paste between stainless rotor bobbin and alloy hub. Obviously clean off any excess.

Correct. Bare stainless touching bare alloy will always generate corrosion. Just like it does where your car alloy wheels touch the steel hubs. Nothing to do with poor quality paint

Except the OP has given every detail so I covered the main possibilities.
The discs need to be fitted with something like Duralac. Same with the spoke holes and engine casing bolts.

Not true.... Depends on the relationship with the dealer, service history.... Sometimes " a goodwill claim" can be submitted to BMW.... They may give the parts and customer pays the labour.....

Dealer was Vines in Guildford. I pointed out the bubbling on a service and they processed a warranty claim. Nothing more difficult than that.

I've just had claim on 2004 M3 rear panel.... Bubbling from inside... Fully covered by BMW.... O and the car has done 230,000 miles..... So just talk to dealer.... Worth a try....

I tried in 2010 on a 5 yo FBMWSH 1150 for rear hub corrosion as described above

BMW were disinterested & said it wasn't covered by warranty or goodwill @ 5 years old & 23000 miles

Rest of bike was mint, so obviously a manufacturing paint defect - but still no joy

I masked it up, rubbed it down with a brass brush wheel & sprayed with Hammerite

5 years later - good as new

unless things have changed, there is no primer or undercut with powder coating.

Surface preparation is degreasing and removal of other matter from the substrate.
