Corsica - buying fuel on sundays

Has anyone a recent experience of buying fuel on a sunday in Corsica.
Is the petrol situation on sundays similar to the rest of mainland france ie: available of major routes, (at manned and unmanned pumps) and off the beaten track its not so easy to find a petrol station open.

France is now much more akin to the UK. In the UK you will not find a petrol station (open or shut) in most villages 'off the beaten track'.

Many French service stations are now converted to take cards, the majority of which will recognise a UK credit or debit card, many switching the operating instructions into English, too. Failures are now very much the exception, rather than the rule.

Corsica may well be the same, but less so.... Islands are often someway behind their larger neighbours. Fill up on a regular basis and you'll be fine. After all 300,000 people live there and it's safe to bet that they do not all queue at one petrol pump.

Not recent experience, I'm afraid, but four years ago the villages in the north-west (coast road toward Calvi) didn't all have fuel stations or did but were closed on Sundays with no automated pumps.

If anyone has more up to date info to confirm otherwise, great (I want to head back sometime!) but I'd suggest topping up at the major towns as already said.

One thing I learnt on my drive around Corsica was that the actual distance between to places on the map is about double that in reality once you factor in the curves.

Thanks for the replies
I'm due to arrive in Corsica on Sat 7th July on the ferry from Nice, with 4 riding days planned + 1 non riding day to chill out. Though the 1 non riding day is planned later in the week to break the riding days up evenly, I was worried that I may be forced by the fuel situation to use the Sunday after I arrive as the non riding day.

Oh and I'm following the "tour de corse" route that's elsewhere on this hallowed forum, and riding out from a base at Porto

That's no problem, I will probably fill up in Menton or Nice before getting on the ferry, or at somewhere along the 50 mile route between Ajaccio and Porto on Saturday evening, to leave me as much fuel in the tank at the start of the ride out the following day
