Cosmetic conversion X-Country to X-Challenge

Mike,
that cockpit screen looks good, ime after something for my x challenge but don't want anything too high, yours seems to fit the bill, can you remember what make it is, where you had it from and how much?

thanks in advance

Stuart

Hi Stuart. The screen is part of the Lynx fairing from Brittania Composites.

Don't know what the current price is but its for the dash, fairing, screen and lights.

The idea is to also switch to a low fender but add a beak for the looks......like below as an example showing the fairing on a standard XC....

To be continued......

Looks good, however, I can't see the original photos you posted.:blast

I'm thinking of changing the headlight to the XChallenge one on my XCountry. What parts would I need, and is it a straightforward job?

Would it just be these, or do I need other parts?

Front headlight cover (46637696754)
Front headlight (63127696880)
Dash mounting bracket (46637696764)

Mike, new fairing looks good:thumb2, if you consider selling the Lynx fairing that you had fitted ide be interested:thumb2

If I remember correctly, the headlight on the challenge sits on the front fender so you would need to change that too. Also, if your country is abs, you will need to move/change the front brake pipe where it mounts under the bottom triple.

You may also find there is an issue with the front fairings. Again....I can't exactly remember.

It's not a difficult job but it requires commitment once started.

Will bear that in mind. Another guy is already interested over here. Either way it won't have the light units with it but will have the matching Husky front fender and a new longer set of bushes for the top triple where the bar risers mount.

After redoing front of my Xchallenge, I have all these parts stashed away.
Was going to keep in case of problems with MOT or something else, or in case it needed to convert back to stock.
Could potentially put them on the market later in the year, PM me if you are interested!
=))

What do you have now as your front end set up?

daft question why didnt you start with a x challenge as thats what its ended up like ?

Several reasons;

Seat height being a main one. I am short and cannot ride a stock Challenge so could not even get it home to start work on it. I also wanted to ride it a bit before committing to spending alot of money on the bike.

Availability. At the time, early 2011, there were almost no Challenges available and I found the 2009 Country for £3000 with only a few miles on it from a car dealer in Hackney, London. I assume they must have PX'd it or something.

Cost: I got it for £3000 ! Far cheaper then any Challenge that had not been absolutely hammered and this Country had never been offroad. The conversion only cost me about €100 as I managed to find most parts 2nd hand and also managed to sell all the Country stuff.

Conversion: Apart from the cosmetic changes, I was going to have to do the same major work to the Challenge as the Country....so financially, It made sense to go for the cheaper, better kept (in this instance) bike.

Thats about it.

does anyone have any of the plastics that have been changed? my buddy has dropped his XChallenge off road and busted the knee pad part of the offside panel the part normally white on the XChallenge

Don't think so Colin

Xmoto ones also fit

Pity, I had a spare set that went with my bike

Does your mate like the bike?

Got it wrong again meant to say X country!! He loves it trail rides it all the time in fact uses it on trails now more than his DRZ.

Good bikes aren't they, have you still got the F8GS? or have you found a XCountry too?
