Hello All,

I'm picking up my 90th edition GSA this week, couple of things, I'm trying to find out what the overall height is "including" mirrors and screen. My guess is that the mirrors may be the highest part with the screen in the lowest position but could be wrong??

I can seem to find various measurements excluding mirrors but not including mirrors, so if someone can put a tape up against their GSA and have a measure it would be much appreciated.

Secondly, it will have the Tyre Pressure sensors fitted, so I want the display to be in PSI rather than BAR, are most of the UK bikes set up with PSI to start with or is this something that should be done during the PDI, or do I need to specify this to the dealer? The demo bike I went on was set to BAR, hence the question.

Many Thanks,

Roy

Hi Roy
On the center stand bike is 1560mm tool <top of the mirror >
I don't have the TPS in my GS so is hard to say but you should be able to change the psi to bar on the dash ? or use the app
1 bar = 14.5037738 pounds per square inch

The dealers can change your BAR to PSI with their super computer.

+1 :thumb You can also have them adjust the indicator duration before they self cancel - I had mine increased to the max as they used to turn off way to early.....

Thanks for all the replies guys, just what I needed to know, I'll ask the dealer to set the Tyre Pressures to read PSI on the dash when I next speak with them, hopefully they can have that done before I collect the bike.

Interesting that they can change the self cancel indicator time, I'll see how I get on with it first then ask them to adjust at the first service once I've worked out how long I would ideally like them to stay on for

Thanks again........

Thread hijack mode ON

Why oh why did they need three (count em) switches for the indicators? Just the two were fine. It's canbus so anything could have been programmed by the factory. How about, press L or R for indicators on, then press either to cancel.

Anyone know how to hack the canbus code? ;)

Hijack mode OFF.

You could start a new thread about the indicator switches............Could make a 4 pager.......!:D

I think they're easy to use and so 'natural' compared to the 'over simplistic' left/off/right switch the rest of the world so wrongly uses!:hide

FP.

I keep forgetting to get mine changed.

Default seems to be 200 metres, 'cos if you switch them on at the 200m marker to come off a motorway they cancel as you exit.

I want to see if I can have it set to 300m, the point at which I would expect to start indicating when over 50mph.

Didn't know you could get the Bar changed to "English money". Gonna get that done too :)

On the pre Twin-Cam era the indicator "auto-cancel" can be switched off altogether, but now the choice is merely extended. It's a few months since I looked but I have a feeling it might go as far as 500m, but if not it's 300. Don't quote me on that; I'm getting forgetful in my old age.
You can change the TPM to PSI, but you can also change the clock to show the 24 hour format. You can even change the ambient temperature display to degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to Centigrade should you wish.

Hi 1130cc,

Have a look at page 46 of the 2012 GSA manual. The page states:-

......"The turn indicators are cancelled
automatically after
you have ridden for approximately
10 seconds and covered a distance
of about 300 m."......

The 2010 manual states however on page 56:-

......"The turn indicators are cancelled
automatically after
you have ridden for approximately
10 seconds, or covered a
distance of about 200 m."......

So this makes the 2012 bike much quicker:bow as that can cover 300m in 10 seconds whereas the 2010 can only cover 200m..:JB ....or have I missed the point:confused::thumb...... They don't say however what colour the bike needs to be as we all know some colours are faster than others !!:hide

On the pre Twin-Cam era the indicator "auto-cancel" can be switched off altogether

On twin-cams it can be switched off aswell, had mine 'turned off' cause they cancel too early on motorway slips, roundabuts etc...:thumby:

I'm not sure where the cut-off point comes; I thought it was pre- & post-twin cam, but when I took my last job bike into workshops ( 61 reg. TC ) the mechanic plugged it in, & said "Oh looks like we can't do that anymore". Cotswold Motorrad, our local dealer confirmed that. I quite agree with you about cancelling too soon, which is why we switched the self-cancel function off where we could. Really irritating when you get half way around a motorway RAB & the signal cancels. Even more irritating with a mixed fleet, some with, some without, hence our attempt to get them all the same.

Agree that the default times are too short. IIRC I had my '08 GSA increased to 500m which I was told was the maximum in terms of distance to travel. I'm not sure if time also becomes part of the equation but at least I can get round a roundabout now without them turning off at a critical moment.

My GS is 09 & on that bike ( & earlier ones ) I've had the auto-cancel turned off altogether, although there was the option to just extend it, & I think 500 metres was indeed the max.

I love the indicator on tabs and after only a few miles would not want to go back to the Japanese style system. But I dont like the off paddle. When I get the bars angled as I like them, its too high and plain awkward at the best of times.

I've fitted these little Wunderlich goodies to my GSA & my 1200RT (slightly different switchgear ) & they really make a difference for me. The pad is just where my thumb finds it naturally whilst riding along.
I quite accept someone else could try it, & decide it's no help to them.
