Hello there
Im putting replacement handlebars on my 1150gs and Im a bit stumped as to how you get the wiring out for the heated grips ........ double plug at one end and seem to be fixed to the grips at the other ...... Im missing something Im sure

Also when putting the clutch master cylinder back on and tried to tighten it on the bars and there doesn't seem to be any thread on the body of the cylinder ..... Is there a threaded insert which has fallen out onto the floor somewhere ?

Thanks

Chris

The grips come without the connector attached. You thread the wires through the handlers then solder both sides to a single connector.

Someone will be along soon to answer your clutch question.

The heated grip wiring can be pulled through with the plug attached. When I did so I pulled a length of string through as I removed it to make replacement easier, may not be relevant if you are changing the bars?

The heated grips look like a closed circuit. The white connector under the tank where both sets meet - get a pin or small nail and push it in the tiny slot at the back of each spade connector (there are 4 obviously). The spades are barbed to stop them coming out and you release the barb with the pin. Then you can pull the wires through the bars no problem:) On refit - remember to push the barbs out of the spades again so they stay put when you push the white connector back on.

The plugs certainly wouldn't go through the gap in the BMW bars on mine. BMW's approved method is as monkeyboy suggests...

I must just have been lucky? I took the left hand grip off to replace the fast idle lever, don't remember taking the spades out of the connector but it was a few years ago... I think I remember rotating the handlebars in the clamps to get the connector to go through the hole in the middle of the bars. 2003, if that makes any difference...

There's your heated grip answer, spot on. :thumb2
