I’m removing the alternator front case to correct the corrosion and I wanted some pointers.
I can’t release the crank but but the bike is in pieces. Front end still there though getting in the way. I’ve ordered a 34mm socket si haven’t got one and the 36 isn’t gripping it. Hate these sizes, they are always ones I don’t have
What’s the best way of holding the engine without damage. Crack locking pin?? Does it work? Don’t want to damage engine. Should I buy one from motorworks or is there a great tool that fits like a 5mm Allen key?? I also don’t know where the locking tool goes. Any red l help appreciated.
I’m going to powder coat the casing then on retirement use a good grade sealant, heat resistant. I’ve done a recent Hyundai cam chain and I know you have to be extremely thorough with cleaning and prep.
Also will the removal of this case dump a lot of oil?? Or just the residual that sits in that area that hasn’t drained already?
Many thanks
