// 1150 GS, overdrive gear

Valves and balance done recently (and very smooth she runs). Perfect acceleration and idle.

BMC Air Filter (clean). CAT with Yellow Plug and no can.

Top end on the flat: 115mph on speedo which is a little over 100mph in real terms!!!

What's gone wrong???

> Tried alternating TPS and no plug/steptoe mod and makes no difference.

they all do that sir, and the 1200 doesn't feel much stronger to me.

You've missed the point. Which is that with a 1200 she'll never be running long enough to get to top speed. And the AA truck won't get over 80 even downhill. :thumb

a fair point. many 12's must be in a perpetual state of running in :P

Ditch the cat. It must be like trying to fart with a tampax shoved up your arsse :thumb

Really, 105mph and that's it?? what happened to the 123mph top speed as per the BM' booklet??

You need a 1150 GSA, on the "right roads" (which aren't downhill ;) ) I've seen 120 on the GPS. Maybe the overdrive is the problem?

Still would expect to see over 100 mph though. brakes not binding, clutch fully engaging? :nenau

maybe it's got an accurate speedo? a new RT(?) speedo drive will do that.

my 1150 clocked 118mph (GPS) two up, with luggage, but that was with a long run up on the autobahn + i had full remus, K & N and a power chip, not that i think that counts for much.

when i demo'd the 12GSA recently i decided it needed a bit more go on a slight incline & was very surprised to find it hit the stop when the clock was showing 90. it was still accelerating, but not very much.

i rarely go that fast so i bought one anyway :)

My 1150, overdrive top gear, easily shows (on an excitable speedo) 130 mph solo, and 120mph two up with luggage

Standard "excited" speedo said 115mph and didn't want to go any further.

I have the tall screen fitted and at the time one alu box which might not have helped matters. Maybes the BMC filter is passing too much air..

Stick it back to standard and stop trying to get a Honda Blackbird from a GS.

Bet it ran fine when you first got it  :D

My GSA with standard can, Airfilter and no fecking about with at all pulls 124MPH on the GPS and an indicated 130 +.

My standard 1150 wouldn't pull more than 120 on the clock no matter how I bounced between 5th and overdrive.

My 95 1100 would pull over an indicated 137 (ish) on the clock. That was chipped with a remus and airbox mods. It took head gaskets out though :(

I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to go fast buy a sports bike :thumb

you haven't got the hang of how engines work yet, have you ???? :mmmm

I get around 125 on the clock with a good run up. It's quick to 110 and then ooooooooooooh sucha slog to 125. Not worth going much past the ton on a GS. Buy a sportsbike for speed on the straights and a GS for.................the hell of it cause they're fugly, heavy, slow and about as much fun as you can have on a bike.

At the time of posting I believed the lambra sensor to be faulty, motronic relying on TPS, and engine running lean because of BMC filter. But it wasn't...

Yesterday night had a short run on the A1 and gained 5mph after removing the top half of the MRA Vaio screen. I had it in the most upright position.

Last night noticed clutch fluid indicator full no matter when handle bars turned. Took top off and a lot of fluid pressurised out [Clutch wear??]. Might this have caused clutch to slip slightly as I got another 5mph this morning? 123mph on speedo sounds about right.

All sorted :)
