Question

As the fitting point are different between the manufacturers do some fit and dont? If so which?
TIA

fitting engine guards

Collin,

As far as I know the guards for an 1150 will fit an 1100 regardless of manufacturer.

The differing fixing points are because there are so many places to fit. One important consideration when buying is whether you have to remove the whole guard to service you bike or just to remove the oil filter. If you have to, it ends up either being a pain for you to service you own bike, or expensive if you get you dealer to remove prior to service.

The only guards that dont easily retrofit are the Adventurer ones. Apparently they will fit but only after you've changed the whole belly pan assembly as well.

Which guards are you looking at?

Thanks Simon
The bars are on a secondhand bike and the present owner did not fit them. A risk I know but the price is right.
Cheers

I fitted the BMW bars to my 850GS (same as 1100). Once fitted they are easy to remove, which you have to do to change the oil, but not to do the valves. It would be nice not to have to bother, but it's not actually that bad.
