Lenny,

Go get yourself a case of beer, and open one up, and then fire up the search function on the menu above - there's very very very much information on the forum about top boxes and crash bars... :)

:beerjug:

(quite a good excuse to  , innit ;))

I was wondering if this was a 'will crash bars fit with a topbox' question!

Givi box looks pants IMO, but apparently some helmets won't fit in the system one I just read, so that could be an issue. Personal choice I reckon, although the system case has been know to self eject...

The main bar choices seem to be Touratech, H&B (which may or may not be same as Wunderlich or is it someone else's...unsure) or BMW.

I bought H&Bs. A little tricky to fit but ok in end as long as you fit centre bar first. Instructions in german but well documented on here and on advrider.com. Seem to be tried and tested and good colour match.

The TT ones are a bit of a different design and look to me (could be wrong) to stick out further. But have an extra spar which might protect heads a bit more from scratches. Crap colour tho, IMO again :D

Its been reported that BMW ones seem to offer least protection and I think they are a bit more money. That could be offset by free fitting I suppose if you dont fancy the job yourself.

Thing is your unlikely to find someone who's tried them all (!) and as each and every drop is different its not easy to say which are best. We used to have similar arguments about crash bungs on the SV. Trouble is everyones crash is a bit different :D :D

Hi Lenny, i can let you have a pic showing a givi box attached if you need one, just pm me, the 52 ltr will take 2 full face and i find it ok, and it doesnt fall off the bloody bike unlike the lunchbox BMW sell.

I have looked at H&B chrashbars, and the BMW offering, personally i'll be fitting TT, when the damned things get here, only been waiting 5 months.

I pick up my GS12 in a couple of weeks, i ordered H&B's and made it a condition of the bike purchase that the dealer fits (free of charge) the H&B crash bars... which the agreed to do without issue... so if you like a non-BMW crash bar, you CAN still get them fitted by the dealer, and free if you haggle nicely ;)

I'm also putting on the Givi E52, because i A) wanted a box that stays on the bike
B) wanted a box to fit 2 x helmets
C) think it's far more practical & spacious (IMO)

guess it comes down to personal choice at the end of the day... i like the look, and think it matches quite nicely with the BMW panniers and doesn't look out of place....

(IMHO)
