I have been trawling the threads re crash bars etc.

Check out Ernie's "Mean Machine" 1100GS at
www.overland-solutions.com

not too sure on the price, but they look the mutts nutts for protecting the cylinders?

Anyone had any dealings with him or had anything similar made? I am looking for something to prep my 1100 prior to doing the Red Kite Rally next month :D

I had my 100GS heavily modfied by Ernie a couple of years ago and he fabricated a similar set for me. They certainly offered the best protection for the rocker covers I've seen. Unfortunately I can't post pictures of my bike but, there are some on the overlandsolutions web-site under 'satisfied customers' 'Bob McDarby-Feast' (thats me) I can't remember the exact price for the crashbars alone as it was all lumped in ith the other stuff I had done but, it was something like £175. Ernie is a genuinely nice guy who takes alot of pride in what he does.

thanks for the pointer. I have seen the link you refer to with the photies.

Were you able to service the bike, get to the cylinders etc with them on or did you have to take them off to do any tinkering?

As you state, they look to offer the best protection I have seen to date, BM, H&B etc included.

cheers
Paul

Paul, yes servicing was possible by just slackening the the bars where they fitted to the front down tubes and swivelling them forward. It was then easy to remove the r/covers.

What do you think of these !

I'd buy a set for the 1200, if they made them, and fit them in addition to the HB bars.
