Crash bars/engine protectors, which one?

Looks like an SW motech set available from Nippy Normans. They get good reviews on here. the only time you'll ground them is if you fall off

Re- Crash bars

I bought the SW Motech's from NN.
Good quality, and easy to fit.

Its also worth thinking about acsses to cilinder head and oil filter for when you take it for service.
The Motech's give acsses to cilinder head without removel, and you only have to remove the fixing bracket on the sump plate to get to the oil filter.

For any other major jobs the motech's will remove in minutes.

Another :thumb2 for SW Motech - certainly the cheapest when I was looking (£99 from NN for the 1150) and still look good, no marks or rust a year later.

80mph drop on the SW-Motech bars. Picked the bike up, wrapped duct tape around the (remains of the) screen & clutch cylinder, went offroading and rode 150 miles home. Had to replace the engine bars, screen, clutch & an indicator.

Next set took some serious abuse offroad with nothing more than a few scuffs & scratches.

The only thing I have to say against them is that the paint finish marks up fairly easily, but it never worried me because the bike was used for offroad and had all sorts of wee marks anyway. And at about half the price of anything else, and a fair bit stronger, they are very very good VFM :thumb

You can't go fording with them on. Can't get your plugs out :nenau

I have the H&B upper and lower bars.

I prefer the way they attach to the engine instead of the rubber mountings of the bash plate. This is IMHO not rigid enough to give constant and effective protection for any more than one or two low speed drops before considerable damage results to the bash plate mountings. The mere fact that they also run between the bash plate and the ground adds to my dought as to their effectiveness.

More importantly though. Don't you think the upper section looks a bit naff? Or is it me? I like that I can if I so desired, fit the TT side bags on my H&Bs.

The thread heading reads. crashbars/engine protectors
These are different . ? .
why not take the Time to ask ,before assuming

Fair point, I read the post rather than the heading.

But that does not negate the point made by Val.

I have The HB and I pretty happy with them. I got few slow tip over on the dirt trails and they guarding the heads pretty well.
I'm thinking to get the tank guards soon.
Good heavy-duty quality, though they looks that, they may rust easily.
The ideal is to put both the crash bars and the head protectors like the one from Caja Sahel. ;)

Great ifo, thanks to all. Now to make my mind up. Being a libran this is easier said than done.
Thanks for all your help
