Gents,
Looking to get some lower engine protection any ideas ? I would like them in black if possible as its a triple black model ?

do you think they would cushion the blow from a drop or a light slide ? I mean they look the biz

I have Puigs on mine, they are black and seem solid enough to protect, guessing the black would come straight off if you drop the bike though, underneath is a black Touratech skid plate

The X Heads are being fitted to my bike today. I've had them before, very impressive.

Xheads are good. I have them and am impressed. In my scenario they protect against rocks puncturing the rocker covers if dropped off road which crash bars wouldn't. The only downside is that they are a PITA to remove from a GSA with bars if you need to get the plugs out for any reason (dropping in water for example).

Something to consider: if you intend to do any off-road, when it goes down (even on a light drop) the black will likely scratch and show up more than silver.

I have silver OEM crash bars and black Altrider engine covers (as you can hardly see them under there) and the combo works and looks very well.

Hope the X heads are as good as you say, I've just ordered some.

Going to go with xheads myself and no bars, they seem like good protection .

Just be careful on tightening the xhead fixing bolts. The larger ones have a shoulder on them and can shear off if over torqued.

I can testify to the benefits of the X heads after a car decided to knock me off last year. It was low speed, circa 20mph but the Xheads protected the cylinder heads showing little more than scratches.
