Hi,
Following on from my previous thread, caused by someone else dropping my bike, I was considering fitting Engine Crash Bars.

I have been told that to import them to NZ would be stupidly expensive, and buying them from a dealer is no cheaper, which made me wonder if anyone had the patterns to make them? If someone had the pattern then it may be cheaper to have them made bespoke.

Any comments?

I have been looking at the same problem DA. I was hoping with our dollar doing well of late to bring some in for my 1150GS but even after converting the currency shipping is the killer.
I wonder if a bulk order for NZ Tossers would bring the price down?

Now that part I can't help with!
I was offered a set of damaged Adventure bars from Auckland last month for $250 but to repair a damaged set would take the price close to the cost of a new set. The research I did also suggests that Adv. bars are not the best.
DA If interested give me a contact so I can pass on the details if I can find them.

Dop fit a set, my recent attempt to write off a mexican truck with my 1150 resulted in the offsidew adventure bars being bent back a bit but it did not flip anf saved the engine etc from damage, however not the forks!.
dave gs sitting in a sweaty internet cafe in Nicuagria about 85 high humidity.
Thanks for all ther offers of assistance.
Dave ( very sweaty gs),

Someone beat me to it!
I've been in touch with the H & B people in Oz and I reckon that the bars are not that much more expensive than buying them in the UK. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and spend some money!

Cheers,

Maybe ?

Hi DA,
I don't know where you are living, but a mate of mine has a small engineering company in Wanganui and he does a lot of motorcycle work. It might be worth giving him a call to see if he can help you out.
Hugh Russell, Boss Engineering Services, 06 3489517.
I have no affiliation with him from a business viewpoint, he is a mate, that's all.

Hi,
Thanks for that, I'll give him a call. It could be an excuse to visit Wanganui!

Hepco and Becker ones on ours, mail order, not badly priced, pretty easy to fit...well I did watch, and the chrome ones imo look quite nice, kinda compliment the bikes :)

Hi,
Thanks for flagging these up: Does anyone know if the bars for the 1150 will fit an 1100? I don't want to buy a set only to find they don't fit!

Cheers,
DA
