Where do you get the BMW Handlebar crossbar pads from as pictured (although I'd want black or grey)? I've tried the BMW, TT, and NN sites but can't find them. Have also tried ebay :nenau

that's a standard bmw item, exactly the same as came with my 07GSA.

Neither the crossbar or the pad came with my 2010 GSA. Have looked on the BMW site and can't find either product on there, but have found the crossbar on the TT site, but no pad.

I believe the parts you need are:
71607701942 - the bar
2x M6x25 cap bolts
46637706632 - pad in grey.
Check with your dealer though in case I'm getting you to order a toaster...

that's because a 2008 - 2012 GSA has a completely different, shallower handlebar (on risers, on a new top yoke) that doesn't need a crossbar. the photo shows an 06/07 GSA.

You can get crossbars for the 2010 GSA's though, but if it's shallower does this mean a pad won't fit?

What's it for exactly

(The pad, not the brace...)

Apparently so you don't break you teeth on the handlebar when you have a fall, which is pretty difficult to do when you're wearing a full face helmet :nenau

I've always just liked the look :augie

i guess that depends on whether the crossbar is the same length, which i don't know.

having had both, i find the no crossbar version feels noticeable nicer somehow. feels more "roomy". might just be me :eek

A toaster might actually be more useful :augie

I bought some grey water pipe insulation from my local B&Q, then I can stick on the bike and not worry about somebody stealing it etc.

Cost about £3 for about 5 lengths, and cut as required.

Cheap and cheerful?

Thought about this, but guessing it doesn't look great?

The one from TT is 275mm, don't know how long the original is?

Those codes are definitely right for the US market as I googled them, not sure on the UK market. Guess it's an email to the dealer then, although didn't really want to go this route due to the inevitable cost
