Currently loving my X-ADV 750 with DCT.
Wondering how the 1200 crosstourer DCT compares, say to a GS, as they do seem to be good value for money on the face of it!!

I tried a X-Tourer when they came out expecting it to be an awesome tall rounder, it felt horrible, a bit weedy (not what I expected from a 1200 V-Four) and very bouncy suspension, I ended up with a GS which I thought was superior in every way....

...may be cheap for a reason?

I’ve had two in the past a manual and a DCT version.
Absolutely loved the DCT one and as for the V4 I found it brilliant. Silky buttery smooth, economical and supremely comfortable and ultra reliable, along with the shaft drive a very competent tourer having toured France and Spain without any issues whatsoever.
It’s the only bike I sold because I had to and not because I wanted to, purely because of its top end weight.
As for the DCT, a truly excellent system and one that I now have on my AT.
I would certainly not dismiss one and I’d certainly recommend trying one as they are exceptional value for money.

I have a 2021 GS1250 bought new (third one) and a 2015 1200 Crosstourer DCT (Second one, though first was manual) bought a couple of years ago when I had problems with my Left Hand.

Neither perfect but enjoy them both and use whichever I fancy at the time, though last year toured France on the CT as a change from the GS.

If it came to selling one or the other, I'm still not sure which it would be.

I’ve had both the cross tourer top heavy and to be frank a lot cheaper but nothing close to a gs

Owned two Honda Crosstourers. Both DCT and both the same colour.
Very good used bike for the money now.

It feels like a big top heavy lump.
Reasonable handling and performance. Factory luggage does the job.

Speedo was rather dull and boring compared to what’s on offer elsewhere.
It’s a well made bike. There are a few accessories available for them. Not a great choice.

I don’t think I would buy another. Was always wary I might loose my ballance and drop it.
I would imagine it would not crash well.

I had a 2018 DCT. The DCT and engine were fine other than a very abrupt throttle which was always irritating. IIRC mpg wasn't very good. Front suspension was quite harsh while the rear was almost too soft. Oddly it had no cruise control. Add to this it was very top heavy so I just sold it and moved on.

I have a 2016 DCT Crosstourer Highlander and am very happy with it. Like any bike, you make improvements to it. Headlights are excellent and the spotlights make it noticeably better. Fit and finish is first rate. It's a good looking bike. Mine was pre fitted with Maxton suspension front and rear and this was one of the reasons I bought this particular bike. I would have done it anyway. I changed the boxy luggage for the more streamlined Shad system. I fitted a Touratech low seat which is a big improvement on the standard seat. The DCT is exactly what I wanted because of arthritis in my left wrist. It handles very well but you are always aware of the limitations due to its weight. It can be hussled very nicely despite this. In this regard a GS is more nimble with no fork dive and as such is quicker in the twisties. The engine is a peach, no vibes. I had mine re flashed, remotely, by a guy in the Netherlands who specialises in the VFR 1200 engine. De restricted, no snatchy throttle, which is a known issue, noticeably quicker everywhere in the rev range, genuinely fast. My previous bike was a K1200 R Sport, so I know what fast feels like. I had a GS 1200 hexhead before that. One thing that I really didn't like about the GS was its popularity. They are everywhere, almost common. The K1200 R Sport was rare compared to the GS and so is the Crosstourer. Another reason why I prefer it. If in the future more bikes become available with DCT or similar (which I can actually afford), then I might consider alternatives. Until then, I will stick with the Honda.

The best colour.

The panniers look ok on this colour variant. They don't look good with the other options. Mine is red and the square silver panniers look at odds with the bike. Red was my second choice colour, yours would have been my first choice.

I had a dct CT... Great bike, very well built, more like a tall sports tourer than an ADV/ big trailiie... I liked it, my wife loved it as a pillion but it went and it was a lump if you pushed on, riding like a race rep hanging off to get it balanced, the tank was too small, the engine too thirsty...
I'm not sure re LC 1200/1250 GSs but the whole GS ethos is it's a package of complementary attributes and the CT was a bunch of great ideas but only introduced to each other at the last minute...
Massive VFM though and a low mid mileage one in the £3ks seems top value as it's a feckin Onda innit and will not have many pesky forum reliability moans unlike ahem BMW...😉

We had a guy bring one on a US Coast to Coast trip a few years ago and I have to say I thought it was a good bike.

Andrew bought it purely for the long distance comfort for him and Christine and I don't think he could fault it as a road bike.

Plenty of power, smooth and comfortable and what more do you need from a bike?

I had a go on it and really liked it but the DCT took some getting used it but I can really see the plus points.

The best bit about it? It's not a GS..........:D

And I bought the white DCT one from Nick Marshall. Great engine, DCT real world useable, but as others have mentioned, top heavy and not the sharpest handling. I’ve always wondered why Honda don’t up the output of the NC750 from it’s woeful existing state, put some half decent suspension on it and simply by making those changes, they’d have a cracking low centre of gravity, do it all DCT bike.
