Crosswind stability?

Warp speed & 125bhp ..............isn't really necessary, to have fun:rolleyes:

It certainly aids my idea of fun! Having lived with a week with the bike I just love the power it can put down to the road. And if BMW came out with a black box tomorrow that delivered another 15bhp for £1000 I would buy it without hesitation.

i wouldn't.

it's all about balance.

That is about Bakermans trip on his Bultaco. He is from another dimension.:nenau Not quite the reference point that would prove your thesis on underpowered bikes being the way forward.

No thesis to prove..............:blast

You can have all the 'bells & whistles' and 125hp, but it isn't the only way for everyone to have fun & that all other older bikes are shite, as most of the WC owners pontificate............. that was my message

BTW..Bakerman owned a 12GS TwinCam, so not much different to the rest of us

I doubt very much he'd buy a 12GS WC though:D

Which is why the WC may not be for you. But I don't see the bike's balance is at all threatened by increased acceleration.

it may be for me, but that's a different bike.

i just think my TC is fine as it is. it's a well balanced bike as it is.

for me.

i was out riding for a few hours at the w/e. i had the throttle near the stop once, for about 2 seconds.

i wasn't exactly holding up traffic the rest of the time :nenau

if i have the wedge to chuck at it next year, i may get a WC GSA. i've even been having second thoughts about a new WC GS.

Hehe, me too, a glorious ride from Guildford to Goodwood, and once out of 2nd I was regularly on full throttle through to 4th or 5th. Such a hooligan's tool.

The interesting thing is that this thread is about the LC. Those that have bought them have done so for many reasons. You don't need all the Bells and Whistles, I agree, but likely if you have bought one that you enjoy the various toys.

I don't understand the owners of older models passing judgement on the LC with such enthusiasm as seems to happen on this section. Are LC owners jumping in on Airhead threads and being naughty boys, other than Count. :rob BTW Bakerman lives 5 mins from me and rides round on a Scooter named "Fiddle 2" with underpants on his head going "Wibble". He very much approved of my LC when he was last round, but I will pass on using Steve's preferences as a marker for bike selection. :D .

And that's what gets your rocks off and why you ride a Gelande Strasse? This is what I just don't get, there's so many better bike's that do what you want to do yet you choose to buy an expensive overlander......

One day...............one day:D

However the more I read...............the less i'm inclined

Mainly because I don't want faster or brisker, can't see the point:nenau

I took one of the 1150's for MOT yesterday and there was a fair bit of wind and crosswind, it's lardy arse (and mine) was rock solid and I was happy bimbling along at 60-75mph on A&B roads, faster would be of no desire or consequence... it is not acceptable to travel faster than 75mph, on A&B roads....in 2013, it's anti-social :D

However I would be interested in..........

Better, standard comfort and wind protection

Plus significantly better mpg and longer service intervals

Sadly that hasn't happened

... from BMW

People haven't mentioned the servicing that much.Although still 6000 miles, the tappets are now only done at 12000 miles. This should knock around £50-60 off a 6k service. It should also reduce a 12k service, as the new adjustment only takes 10 mins not 45mins+.This info comes from the Bike Mag tests so could be bullshit!:blast But I don't think so as BMW dictate how long a job should take:thumby:

We will see...........

because they've got bored with shit stirring in the sensible & boring old 1200 section after 9 years.

Cos with the extra power it can now do it all! Woohoo!

More interesting that jap bikes
More comfortable than race reps
More powerful than TC's and older BMs
More affordable than Ducati (Multistrada)
More proven than Triumph
More attractive than the KTM

Sorry, but I LOVE the WC GS as the greatest all rounder. No wonder it sells so well.

Sorry if loving the WC offends!

I don't think anyones offended. For the record, I expect to be a Wasserhead owner in the future so I'm not knocking it. I just feel that a few extra horses on a Wasserhead doesn't make it the "buy it now" option for me and I also suspect that once the novelty has worn off, a previous owner of a Hexhead won't be any quicker over the same roads on a WC. If and when I buy one, power and speed will not figure in the reasoning. If that was a reason to buy then a different bike would be a better option including most of the ones you have already mentioned. I believe a GS is a great all round "jack of all trades, master of none" bike and the wasserhead doesn't change that opinion.
