think I might be in the market for a thermal cummerbung , was out on the bike yesterday and while it was a bit chilly the only part that was decidedly cold was my gut so anyone else finding this a problem

Sadly yes, being the shape of Winnie the Pooh doesn't keep you warm.

Heated vest is way forwards. There was one up here for sale recently. £80 ?

On the bike at this time of year I wear a kidney belt as standard, even with a heated jacket it's possible to get a chill on your lower back .... first hand experience and it's not pleasant :blast

General opinion here seems to be that a kidney belt is used for support for the lower back, my first one was bought for me over 30 years ago by a German friend who couldn't believe they were hardly worn in the UK. I'd not seen them before that and he explained that pretty well most bikers in Germany used them to protect the lower back from cold, many even during the summer months.

Been wearing an Aldi or Lidl one for years in Winter - even with the Heated Jacket.
Very useful.

I found it stays in-place better when I fit it outside the Heated Jacket.
It moves up my back a bit if I only have a thermal under the bike jacket.

Worth buying one.

looking at the kidneybelts on amazon but looking at the dimensions the largest was only 28cm which seems a bit small , i know they stretch but by ten inches ?

I have had a few of kidney belts , latest one is a Vanucci 218703 with a detachable thermal insert ( from Louis.de) if you do a google search it will take you to the page ,they do them in sizes small to xxx large

Brilliant bit of kit , no more back pain on long rides and no more needing a p*ss every hour or so
