Custom bottom yoke for WP48 forks

@ Mav,
did you got the parts from Bobby and does some remain ?
What is the return of experience from the ones who did the change ?
Thank you

There is a BMW dealer in the US who has started making up bottom yoke/triple trees to fit WP48 forks to an HP2. WP48's have the added benefit of fitting the existing top yoke.

I might be able to bring some back on my travels from the states. Anyone interested? If so, I will get a price.

dont forget boys to save you all the hassle get your selves a front end of any moto x bike and i can get all of the machine work done we make our own yokes just doing 3 sets for new husky rally bikes , did my own on my hp2 mm using a std set 48mm showas awesome moly

I can't speak for others experience, but for me I get wear on the "externals" (whether this is to the stantions or the legs :nenau), so I can't see how fitting new internals will help (although, again I have heard others where this has cured problems).

I've had 4 pairs wear, and replacing just the bushes doesn't cure the looseness. I can't really see exactly where the wear is (other than the coating rubbing off), and there's never been any oil loss through the seals but my bike now rides like it's got a flat front tyre :(

I just hope WP48s are the way to go!

any thing you get is far superior to std units
i had a front end of kx 500 just machined a stem !!!machined some yokes , had them sprung at revs, hey presto a bike that handles and steers like it should !!!!! wilbers on the rear and you got yourself a propper off roader mm

Hi Moly,
can you give us more infos, pictures & prices ?

Hi Sorry missed this I did the change back in March this is what I posted on the ADV site at the time. Have now done two trips to Morocco with the new forks and can confirm they are great

First big thanks to Bobby for this kit and he’s a very helpful person to deal with :thumb

Sorry a little history about my Hp2

My Hp2 started as a trail bike and playing in the dirt in the UK only, had lots of fun on it

But started using it for trips into Africa and Eastern Europe

So sold my 1200 GSA (as the Hp2 is the very thing I wanted form my GSA) and have been modifying it for my travel needs and was looking at fork options when I saw this kit

As I’m returning to North Africa in April with the Hp2, Bobby pull out all the stops to ship me his kit

I had the clamps removed wait for my new ones to arrive

Then the kit arrived and a quick go on a mates press and my new clamps were ready to be fitted ( fitted new bearings as well just because it was striped down )

My new forks all sorted by a mate Kevin ( runs an engine and suspension workshop for the MX & supermoto boys) who has done all my WP fork’s for my ktm’s when I raced them

They are a little bit special not that far way form WP factory ones, MX closed cartidge forks with 290mm of travel revalved, stiffer spring rate and billet feet (The MX top tube is shorter than the SE fork so with the 290mm travel its only 8mm longer than the standard forks)

After a quick test ride they are 50% better than the standard one it’s great and I’m sure there is still a little fine tuning to be done

Ok the up shot of this is what ever you are using your Hp2 for and you want to improve the front of your Hp2 IMHO going down the WP route has got to be the way forwards and this kit makes it easy

MX or EXC forks are easy to pick up second hand, then have them revalved and new springs. Only thing I would say is get your new forks revalved and new springs done by someone who knows what there doing as this is what’s going to make the biggest improvement

This is where I saw the clamps for sale http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655678 easy job it fit the bottom clamps

Hi Moly,

don't worry. :)

But you wrote also this :

"look at the photo of mine it has 50mm showa front end from an ex works kawasaki with talon hubs and rim braking supa moto disc and caliper"

What is your final setting now ? :eek

These are a set of front fork yokes Moly has made up for me suited to 50mm Kayaba front forks - Moly can also do 48mm yokes.

The complete set is £560 for the set - so I think Moly could sort out a really good price if you just wanted a bottom. If a number of guys wanted a bottom yoke only then I'm sure Moly would work something out.
